"An evil man is snared by his own sin, but a righteous one can sing and be glad." (V6)
We have a habit of trapping ourselves in sin. We blame this or that when it is all us! Sin is so gripping and tries so hard to steal our heart by making sin look nice and shiny. (sin usually doesn't look all ugly and black, does it?)
So many things God has created for our pleasure, BUT IN marriage (sex).
The world has completely ruined what it was intended for by giving themselves away too many times and outside of marriage.
Living in sin will not make you happy, it will lead to doubts, confusion, heartbreak and destruction from the sinful things you allowed to become habits.
There is SO MUCH freedom and LIFE in Christ. Do not let yourself fall into the traps of sin... guard your heart and be in his word constantly, let God lead you through your tough times, show you how to live and live in peace.
"Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger." (V8) These mockers and fools do not care about others around them, their desire is to destroy the world they live in.
They will never be pleased with anyone or anything. Their foolishness can cause riots and rebellions which can bring a whole city down.
"A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control." (V11)
This is so hard for me sometimes. There will always be things that upset us, but choosing NOT to dwell on them and to take the anger and concerns to God instead of leaving it to build up inside of you will help to keep your anger under control.
Stop trying to do things on your own, there's a reason it's called a relationship with God. It's a daily thing not a 'now and then- when i have time' thing. The ONLY way to grow in him is by engaging with him constantly.
