"Go to the ant you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise". (verse 6)
God is warning us against laziness. laziness and self control.
Ants are hard workers, they plan ahead and provide food ahead of time so that they never go without food. We are told to learn from the wise, listen to the teacher.
An ant's average life-span is 45-60 days, that is not a ton of time to live your life... imagine you only got to live that? Would you work harder and meet more goals? Ants live everyday like it was there last one, that is wise. They live well today incase tomorrow never comes. Now you may think its silly to use ants as an example of how to follow wisdom but think how differently you may live if tomorrow never came. How much more would you perhaps, accomplish today if tomorrow never came? How would you live your life if tomorrow was judgement day? Would you be able to stand before God and say, "I did my best, I was bold for you in every situation and choice I made, despite my circumstances, I set you as number one everyday and lived my life to glorify you." Could you say that about what you did yesterday?
Don't get lazy about your walk with God, it brings you life. God has so many wonderful plans for you and he wants to give you a future.
"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, Plans to give you a hope and future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
God wants us to meet him halfway. We are to work hard in all we do, constantly be trying... working on being more like Jesus and follow his word in everything you do.
Verse 16-19 mention the seven things God hates. Are you staying away from them? I love what it says in verse 23.
"For these commands are a lamp, and this teaching is a light." The bible is our pocket guide to life.
I absolutely LOVE Joyce Meyer and she is one of the very few writers whose I can sit and read all day. What a woman of encouragement and wisdom. She teaches ladies all over the world to be bold in Christ, to find joy in each day. Seeking God is not what you do only when you are in a tricky situation.
"Do what God says and be blessed
Do what you feel like and be miserable" (joyce meyer)
That is so true!
Follow the teachings in this chapter. I urge you to find two things about your everyday life you could do differently and better for God and really work on changing them. It can be o to with family life, forgiveness, unconditional love, joy, communication with others, lack of motivation, etc... the choice is yours, these are only a few examples.
What are your two things you have chosen? Please share with us :)
